Auburn Baseball loses series finale against Tennessee 19-5

Auburn Baseball loses series against Tennessee 2-1, falls to 2-10 in conference play.

AUBURN, Ala.(EETV)- In a thrilling matchup between Auburn and Tennessee, the game unfolded with action from both sides. Although Tennessee ended up dominating with a score of 19-5. 

The game started with Auburn's Will Cannon taking the mound as the starting pitcher, delivering three quick outs in the top of the first inning. Zander Schrist led Tennessee's pitching. Auburn's offense ignited in the bottom of the first, with Cooper Weiss at bat, followed by Ike Irish's single. Cooper McMurray then smashed a home run, driving in a run. Mason Maners grounded out, and Gavin Miller ended the inning with a fly out.

As the game progressed, Tennessee fought back, leading 7-3 by the end of the second inning. Highlights included Cal Stark's grand slam home run and Christian Moore's inside-the-park home run.

In the third inning, Carl Stark added to Tennessee's lead with another home run. Auburn made a pitching change, bringing in Cam Tilly, who faced challenges but managed to limit the damage. The fourth inning saw Auburn trying to fight back, with Maners drawing a walk and Wright hitting a double, bringing in a run. Caden Green was hit by a pitch, adding pressure to Tennessee's defense.

The fifth inning brought more excitement, with Hunter Ensley hitting a home run for Auburn. Tennessee responded with strong hitting, including a double by Christian Moore that drove in two runs.

As the game reached the sixth and seventh innings, both teams fought fiercely. Chris Stanfield's single and Kaveres Tears' home run were standout moments. Tennessee's Gavin Miller also impressed with an inside-the-park home run. 

The game remained intense, showcasing the  skill of both teams as they battled for victory. Tennessee dominated insanely throughout the whole game. Auburn lost the series 1-2. 

Auburn is now 18-13 on the season and 2-10 in SEC play. Next up for Auburn will be Alabama State on Tuesday, April 9th at 6p.m.
