AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – A new Miss Homecoming has been named on the plains for 2024.
After a week of tabling, campaigning and voting, Helen Talmadge was elected as Auburn University's 2024 Miss Homecoming.
Talmadge’s Homecoming platform is “At the Table with Talmadge,” where she seeks to bring attention and action to the importance of meals and the time spent around the table as an opportunity to create community and connections.
As a dietetics major, Talmage has always been passionate about food and diet culture. However, she believes there is so much more to meals than just eating.
She says, “Food is a piece of home for people, and I desire for Auburn students to feel that they can have that piece of home through shared experiences and culture.”
Now that she has the opportunity to extend her platform, Talmadge plans to work with the International Student Organization to help elevate and promote their weekly dinner events. She also plans to help broaden food options for those who are unable to go home over the holidays.
Talmadge also plans on centering dining halls by promoting that everyone is welcome and has a seat at the table.
