5-star, class of 2025 quarterback Deuce Knight has flipped his commitment from Notre Dame to Auburn. He had been committed to the Fighting Irish since September 2023.
This is a huge pickup for Hugh Freeze and the Tigers as there has been lots of inconsistent play and drama in the quarterback room for a couple years now. Knight could ease these problems next season if he competes well this offseason against other members of Auburn's QB room such as Hank Brown, Walker White, and Holden Geriner.
The 6-foot-4 senior at George County High School in Lucedale, Mississippi is not only an elite, left-handed, dual-threat quarterback, but also an incredible athlete. Before his junior year, Knight ran a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash and jumped 41.9 inches in the vertical jump.
The Mississippi native finished his junior year in 10 games with 2,047 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also tailed up 500 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.
Knight also had offers from Alabama, Georgia, Colorado, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Miami, before ultimately choosing Freeze and the Plains. His skills could remind Freeze of former Auburn and Liberty quarterback Malik Willis, whom he previously coached.
