Auburn Soccer Dominates LSU in 4-0 Victory

AUBURN, AL. — No. 16 Auburn soccer showcased its strength with a commanding 4-0 win against LSU Friday night at the LSU Soccer Stadium, marking the most goals scored by Auburn against LSU since 1997.

The Tigers opened scoring in the 15th minute when sophomore Olivia Woodson netted her team-leading eighth goal of the season. Woodson's perfectly placed finish set the tone for a dominant performance by Auburn. Less than two minutes later, senior Mallory Mooney added a second goal with a half-volley, sending Auburn into halftime with a 2-0 lead and an 11-0 advantage in shots.

Auburn maintained its offensive pressure throughout the match, consistently challenging LSU’s defense. Senior goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska, a standout for the Tigers with 10 shutouts this season and the second-most career shutouts in Auburn history, helped secure the team's impressive defensive effort.

In the second half, Auburn continued to control the game. Senior Carly Thatcher scored the third goal just eight minutes in, further extending Auburn's lead. Senior LJ Knox capped off the scoring in the 56th minute, finishing a well-placed free kick from senior Anna Haddock.

Overall, Auburn outshot LSU 23-4, emphasizing their offensive dominance and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. The team’s performance highlighted their status as a top contender in the SEC.

Auburn will look to build on this momentum as they return home to face in-state rival Alabama on Thursday, Oct. 10, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
