Cam Newton Hired by ESPN's First Take

Former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton will join ESPN’s morning show First Take this Friday at Tennessee State University.

The 2010 Heisman winner and national champion will join host Molly Qerim, famed journalist Stephen A. Smith, Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, and radio personality Chris “Mad Dog” Russo as panelists of the show.

Since his absence from the NFL in 2021, Newton has grown into a huge media personality. His YouTube channel currently holds more than 1.5 million subscribers, and the former national champion has dreams of becoming the most famous athlete-turned-YouTuber.

Although the 35-year-old quarterback has not played a snap in the NFL for three years, he spent 10 years with the Carolina Panthers and one year with the New England Patriots. In 2016, he won the Most Valuable Player award and led the Panthers to their second Super Bowl Appearance in franchise history.

He has talked about making a potential return to the league in the past, but in his podcast last month, he said that his career just might be over.

Newton’s first appearance on First Take will broadcast this Friday, Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. on ESPN.
