Freeze’s Historic Recruiting Continues in 2025 Class

Auburn, AL. (EETV.) Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze is well-known for his ability to recruit high-caliber players to his teams, and his tenure at Auburn is no exception.

Freeze has recruited and coached many well-known NFL players, even in his time before Auburn; notable participants include Seattle Seahawks star receiver DK Metcalf and high-flying Super Bowl champion A.J. Brown– just to name a couple.

With such an impressive resume, the pressure was on for Coach Freeze as he stepped into the Auburn head coach role last year, and he did not disappoint. His eighth-ranked 2024 class shines on the field today through key players like WR Cam Coleman and ATH Demarcus Riddick, while many, many more high-class recruits look on in the wings, such as EDGE Amaris Williams, a former five-star, and QB Walker White.

Despite such an outstanding 2024 class, the ever-insatiable Freeze was not satisfied with an eighth-ranked recruiting class; Coach was so proactive, in fact, that even despite a 2-4 start to the season, he’s been able to snag the number three recruiting class in the nation– only behind Alabama and LSU.

Anyone who’s kept up with Auburn recruiting lately knows the name Deuce Knight- a five-star (per 247Sports) dual-threat QB who’d been committed to Notre Dame for over a year– until Coach Freeze snatched him up this past week. The 6’5,” 206-pound left-hander promises to be a breath of fresh air to Auburn fans fearing the worst in the QB room.

Freeze’s recruiting prowess doesn’t end here, though– Auburn’s defense is sure to be bolstered by EDGE Jared Smith and DL Malik Autry, both five-star defensive weapons, along with a myriad of other four-star weapons including EDGE Jakaleb Faulk and S Eric Winters.

Notable offensive pickups in this 2025 class also include storied RB Alvin Henderson, a 5’9’ 200-pound beast from Elba, AL. Henderson was heavily sought after by notable programs including Alabama and Penn State, but settled on Auburn in June, stating he “can’t wait to make this great state happy.”

Coach Freeze’s 26 recruits thus far into the season consist of three five-stars, 12 four-stars, and seven others. Without a doubt, Freeze has been incredible with his recruiting despite a rough start to the season, and it will surely be interesting to see what he’s able to do once the Tigers turn it around and become the powerhouse they’re meant to be.
