AUBURN, AL. (EETV) -- Auburn University's chapter of Sigma Kappa hosted a day of festivities for their annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Oct. 20. The event reached its goal of raising $1 million nationwide, with the Auburn chapter contributing just over $45,000.
Held on the campus greens outside the student center, the event was an opportunity for families to enjoy activities like face painting and play games like cornhole or life-size Jenga.
The Beauregard High School band and choir were also there to perform. Following their performance, Auburn University's mascot Aubie made an appearance and engaged in various activities, including dancing with the members of Sigma Kappa.
After all the festivities, the walk began. Eventgoers trekked on a 2-mile walk around Auburn’s campus, with the route beginning and ending at the campus greens.
“Both of my grandparents had Alzheimer’s and unfortunately passed from that over the past three or four years and being able to be a part of the team that is advocating and pushing legislation to get our state representatives and our federal team on board has been really meaningful,” said Ramsey Haggerty, a representative for the Alzheimer’s Association.
