False Alarm: Several Weather Sirens Accidentally Go Off In the Auburn Area

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- According to the Lee County Emergency Management Agency, several weather sirens went off today in the Auburn area. EMA said in a Facebook post that there is currently no severe weather and that siren technicians are currently working to see what caused them to go off. Here is the full post from the Lee County EMA: "Thank you to everyone who messaged and called us in regards to hearing the sirens sounding in the Auburn area this afternoon. At this time there are no watches or warnings for our area.

University of Alabama SGA President Arrested

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (EETV)- University of Alabama Student Government Association President Jared Hunter was arrested Sunday by Tuscaloosa Police and charged with driving under the influence. Hunter, who received widespread attention when he was elected in 2017, was the first African American SGA President to be endorsed by the University of Alabama’s “Machine” organization. Eagle Eye TV has reached out to the University of Alabama for comment and will update this story once we hear from them.

Officers Respond To Alleged Trespassing Incident On Auburn's Campus

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Officers with the Auburn Police Division responded to a criminal trespassing call Sunday afternoon on the campus of Auburn University. The incident was reported to have occurred in the 300 block of War Eagle Way, which is close to many of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering buildings. According to police spokesperson Lorenza Dorsey, officers made contact with two juveniles who were alleged to have trespassed on a construction site. The juveniles were not Auburn University students and were released to their legal guardians. No injuries or damage were reported.

Lee County EMA Issues Travel Advisory Due to Winter Weather

Lee County, Ala. (EETV) – The Lee County Emergency Management Agency, in coordination with the Lee County Highway Department, has issued the following advisory for all Lee County: IMPASSABLE TRAVEL ADVISORY: On January 17, 2018 all roads and bridges in Lee County should be considered IMPASSABLE until further notice.

A Day On, Not A Day Off: Local MLK Day Volunteer Opportunities

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Communities across the world are planning celebrations Monday to honor the life of Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Many people who are off school or work Monday are participating in community service events, which have become a popular way to give back and honor King's legacy. For those in the Auburn area looking to give back, here are some local volunteer opportunities: The Auburn University Black Student Union and the Auburn University Alternative Student Breaks organization will be partnering to host a community service trip to Selma on Monday.  The cost is $20 which includes meals, travel and even an event t-shirt.
