Walt Maddox visited Auburn Monday

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Democratic nominee for Alabama governor and current Tuscaloosa mayor Walt Maddox made a visit to Auburn University Monday as part of his statewide bus tour. Maddox discussed several points on his platform including expanding the federal Medicaid program, supporting a state lottery and increasing infrastructure spending in the state. The mayor faces current Alabama governor Kay Ivey in the November 6 general election.  According to an analysis by Five Thirty Eight, a national polling organization, Maddox has a less than a two percent chance of defeating Ivey in the general election.

Constitutional amendments on the 2018 Alabama midterm ballot

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- When Alabama voters head to the polls next Tuesday, they will face more than just candidates on this year's ballot. Voters statewide will get to voice their opinions on four potential amendments to the Alabama state constitution. The first amendment on the ballot expresses support for religious liberty and allows for the display of the Ten Commandments on public property as long as it meets constitutional requirements.  The second amendment on the ballot officially launches a state policy of supporting the importance of unborn life and rights of unborn children. The third amendment on the ballot changes some of the aspects of the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees. The fourth ballot changes some of the policies associated with how vacant legislative seats are filled. In addition to these amendments, several counties have local amendments on the ballot.

SGA opens qualifying for Spring 2019 election

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn University’s Student Government Association has officially opened up qualifying for the Spring 2019 elections. Students interested in running have until November 30 to submit their declaration of intent on AU Involve. Positions are divided between major and minor candidate positions.

Gov. Kay Ivey holds campaign rally in Auburn Saturday

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey held a campaign rally at the Auburn University ALFA Pavilion Saturday. Ivey discussed her administration's accomplishments including additional funding for pre-k, additional state troopers and new efforts to work with the state legislature. Alabama Congressman Mike Rogers, Lee County Revenue Commissioner Oline Price and Auburn College Republicans President Seth Ingram also spoke at the event. Ivey faces Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox in the general election November 6.

Mayor-Elect Ron Anders discusses transition

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn Mayor-Elect Ron Anders is preparing to take the helm as Auburn's next mayor in November. At an event at Auburn University Saturday, Anders told Eagle Eye TV that he will be participating in an orientation session Monday with new council members to learn more about different city departments. Anders also said that he is working on creating new committees to focus on several key issues.

Two killed in single vehicle accident

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- The Auburn Police Division are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Monday morning in the 3300 block of Moores Mill Road. Police say that a vehicle that was traveling east bound left the roadway, struck a tree and became engulfed in flames. A 20 year old Lannett woman and a 24 year old Auburn woman were killed in the crash.
