A Day On, Not A Day Off: Local MLK Day Volunteer Opportunities

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Communities across the world are planning celebrations Monday to honor the life of Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Many people who are off school or work Monday are participating in community service events, which have become a popular way to give back and honor King's legacy. For those in the Auburn area looking to give back, here are some local volunteer opportunities: The Auburn University Black Student Union and the Auburn University Alternative Student Breaks organization will be partnering to host a community service trip to Selma on Monday.  The cost is $20 which includes meals, travel and even an event t-shirt.

Alabama Joins Effort To End Human Trafficking

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (EETV) – Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has joined Georgia-based nonprofit organization, Street Grace, and 10 other attorneys general in participating in an effort to raise public awareness of sex trafficking in Alabama.

Bikes Reportedly Stolen Close To Mell Classroom Building

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- The Auburn Police Division reports that two bicycles were stolen from a bike rack on campus close to Mell Street over the Winter Break. According to division spokesperson Lorenza Dorsey, two mountain bicycles valued at over $400.00 were taken from the rack close to the new Mell Classroom building.

Cookout Opens First Auburn Location

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Cookout, a popular fast food restaurant chain, has opened their first Auburn location. The restaurant, which specializes in American-style food such as burgers, chicken and hotdogs, opened it’s Opelika Road spot next to the Auburn Mall Friday and has attracted large crowds in recent days.

Major Tax Cut Passed, Local Politicians React

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (EETV)- After weeks of modifications and work, Congressional Republicans passed the highly anticipated tax reform measure today. The bill, the first major tax reform in 30 years, works to lower the corporate tax rate and helps to enhance deductions for millions of middle class Americans, especially those with children.
