TRAFFIC: Move in causing extreme backups on West Glenn Ave.

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Move-in Day at the new Evolve complex on Glenn Avenue is causing some major traffic delays. The new Complex is welcoming its first residents with construction finishing in just the last couple of weeks.  The area on West Glenn Avenue headed eastbound is at a stand still for nearly a mile Please avoid the area if possible. NASA releases safety warning ahead of Eclipse 2017

(NASA) - Looking directly at the sun is unsafe except during the brief total phase of a solar eclipse (“totality”), when the moon entirely blocks the sun’s bright face, which will happen only within the narrow path of totality (https://go.nasa.gov/2pC0lhe (link is external)). The only safe way to look directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun is through special-purpose solar filters, such as “eclipse glasses” (example shown at left) or hand-held solar viewers.

Abandoned pony survives brutal attack, nursed back to health at AU

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) – Pogo is a tiny pony—a “miniature” horse to be exact—with a very big will to live and apparently, a large destiny to fulfill. He was found by a Birmingham-based equine rescue organization this past June and brought to the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine for treatment following traumatic amputation of the left hind limb.

Auburn University Panhellenic awarded prestigious national award

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn University Panhellenic has received its first National Panhellenic Conference, or NPC, College Panhellenic Excellence Award, the highest award that a college Panhellenic can win from the conference. The award recognizes Auburn Panhellenic as women who demonstrate success in the areas of academics, recruitment, Panhellenic operations and administration, communication with the NPC area advisor, judicial procedures, Panhellenic programming and Panhellenic community impact and relations.

Auburn University today conferred 1,160 graduate and undergraduate degrees during the first two ceremonies of President Steven Leath’s tenure. “This ceremony represents the closing of a transformative chapter in your academic pursuits, and the beginning of a new chapter of great promise and possibility,” Leath said.

Auburn political science professor creating an 'Alabama Justice' exhibit

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)– A traveling exhibit, “Alabama Justice: The Cases and Faces that Changed a Nation,” will tour the state in 2019, Alabama’s bicentennial year, thanks to funding from the Alabama Humanities Foundation, Auburn University Intramural Grants Program and a College of Liberal Arts Summer Research Grant. Steven Brown, professor in the Department of Political Science in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, is conducting extensive research to write about three United States Supreme Court justices appointed from Alabama, and eight landmark cases that arose from this state.

Utility repairs to cause water outages along Samford Ave.

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- The Auburn Water Works Board will perform necessary maintenance work at the intersection of South Gay Street and Samford Avenue on Thursday, July 27. The eastbound lane on Samford Avenue from South Gay Street to Armstrong Street will be closed during work from 4:30 to 11 a.m.

Muguruza takes Wimbledon title

London (EETV)- After an incredible performance against Johanna Konta, Venus Williams came into the Wimbledon finals more confident than ever. The 37-year-old American battled with Spaniard Garbine Muguruza. Muguruza takes Wimbledon title lost to Venus’s sister Serena just two years ago in the Wimbledon finals and was determined not to lose again. After a tough battle Muguruza was down 4-5 and fought back to win the first set 7-5. The second set would be a completely different story as Muguruza shut out Williams by a score of 6-0. The match was ended by a long shot by Williams that was ruled in.

Auburn man arrested on multiple charges

On Thursday, July 13, 2017, the Auburn Police Division arrested Jean M. Long, age 27 from Auburn on felony warrants charging him with two counts of Burglary 3rd degree, and two counts of Theft of Property 3rd degree. The arrest stems from an investigation by Auburn Police into separate burglaries that occurred on June 23rd at a business and a storage building located on Bee Hive Road.
