Auburn Health Science sector to improve innovation and collaboration

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn University’s new Health Sciences Sector is bringing together its School of Nursing and the Harrison School of Pharmacy’s Pharmaceutical Research Building in one complex to support advanced innovations and collaborations. The complex, which opened to students last week, cost the University approximately $45.6 million. The location at the southwest corner of South Donahue Drive and Lem Morrison Drive was chosen as the site for the Health Sciences Sector—part of the university’s master plan—because of its proximity to the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Auburn campus. School of Nursing Building The new 89,000-square-foot home for the School of Nursing, which opened this summer, is the first at Auburn specifically built and designed for nursing education.

Fireworks test shoot scheduled for Friday

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - With the beginning of Auburn's football season just over a week away, final tests are being conducted to ensure a fun and safe game day experience. On Friday, August 25th, Athletics officials will be conducting a test shoot for the firework show at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Power outages reported across campus

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Many buildings across central campus are experiencing power outages this morning.  The Haley Center and Student Center were both affected. EETV has confirmed that the power has been restored to Haley, the Student Center, and the Chemistry building. Utility crews are investigating to determine the cause and ensure that power is restored to all buildings.

Top 5 Miss Homecoming candidates announced

AUBURN, ALA. (EETV) - The top five Miss Homecoming candidates were announced Wednesday night. Cater Lawn was filled with hundreds of supportive friends as the top five candidates for Miss Homecoming was read aloud by the Elections Board.The girls made their way through the crowd toward the top of the stairs and were met with a contagious wave of cheering and clapping from their respective nominating organizations. As we draw nearer to naming Miss Homecoming, the number of girls has been narrowed considerably each callout: The 43 girls who submitted platforms was trimmed to 20 on Tuesday evening with the top five following tonight. A breath of relief combined with overwhelming joy was evident for Camille Smith who said “this whole experience... I can only say it has been surreal” after being nominated by her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. For Nicole Finley, this entire experience is beyond a pleasant surprise.

Critical Conversations’ speaker series to examine intellectual diversity and the free exchange of ideas

Auburn, Ala.(EETV) – Beginning fall 2017, Auburn University will welcome distinguished scholars, journalists and thought leaders to campus as part of the “Critical Conversations” lecture series–a forum to explore and discuss a full range of viewpoints and ideologies on topics such as inclusion, intellectual diversity and free speech in higher education. Cornel West and Robert George, internationally recognized Ivy League professors, will be on campus Sept.

Auburn man arrested for breaking into cars near campus

Auburn, Ala. (EETV)On August 22, 2017, Auburn Police arrested William David McConnell, age 38 from Auburn on warrants charging him with Breaking & Entering of a Motor Vehicle, Theft of Property 4th Degree, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree & Receiving Stolen Property 4th Degree. The arrest stems from an investigation into a report of a theft from a parked vehicle in the 100 block of Gay Street that occurred on August 18th. According to the victim, someone entered their 2012 Audi A4, and stole an electronic device.

Opelika man runs to shopping plaza after being shot

Opelika, Ala. (EETV) - One man was taken to the hospital by helicopter Tuesday night after being shot in the back. The shooting took place in the 3400 block of Arnold Avenue First responders found the man in the parking lot of Saugahatchee Square after he ran nearly a mile from the shooting scene. The victim told police, "he was outside when he heard several gunshots and felt himself get shot" The victim was taken to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, he was in stable condition when he was flown from the scene. This assault is under investigation by the Opelika Police Department.


Carolina is described as a white female with brown hair and hazel eyes. She stands 5’-10” tall and weighs 135 lbs.   Charles is described as a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes. He stands 5’-6” tall and weighs 120 lbs.

Missing Auburn teens return home

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Two Auburn teens missing since August 6th have returned home. Auburn Police were notified that Carolina and Charles Harrelson have returned to their residence in the 700 block of Hunter Court.  Officers confirmed the teens are safe and in good health.  They had previously left the home out of concern for an upcoming custody hearing and were apparently staying with a family friend.  Those circumstances are being investigated by Auburn Police.
