Auburn University professor to be awarded the 2017 Hughes-Gossett Senior Prize

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – Steven Brown, a professor of political science in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, has earned a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity through hard work and scholarly research. Brown is the recipient of the 2017 Hughes-Gossett Senior Prize for the best article in the Journal of Supreme Court History.

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn University President Jay Gogue has drawn on his long career in higher education administration to develop a digital textbook on the subject. “A President’s Perspective” was available for review at the recent American Council on Education annual meeting where it received high praise from university presidents, scholars and students for its innovative use of media and technology to deliver content. The new digital textbook is being described as unlike any other in the field.

Mayor Fuller suspends rules at City of Opelika cemeteries for Mother's Day weekend

Mayor Gary Fuller and Public Works Director Mike Hilyer have issued an order to “suspend” the rules at City of Opelika cemeteries starting on Friday, May 12, 2017, through Sunday, May 21, 2017, governing the placement of floral arrangements, wreaths, and trinkets on graves, allowing loved ones to place extra wreaths, flower arrangements (in a separate container), and trinkets on the graves.

Auburn Research Fellow inducted into the Alabama Foresters' Hall of Fame

AUBURN, Ala. – School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences Research Fellow John Kush was named the 2017 inductee to the Alabama Foresters’ Hall of Fame at the Southeastern Society of American Foresters Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet held in Miramar Beach, Florida. As an Alabama resident and Auburn forestry graduate, Kush was considered for the Hall of Fame due to his outstanding contributions to forestry in Alabama over the course of his 40-year career.
