AU updates campus community regarding Richard Spencer

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn University has issued the following statement to the campus community ahead of Richard Spencer's anticipated visit to campus this afternoon "In an effort to update the campus community regarding the recent cancellation of the Richard Spencer event, it is the university’s understanding that—despite our requests for him not to attend—Spencer may still appear on Auburn’s campus at some point today. While the university does not know the specifics of if and when this event might unfold, the safety and security of the campus remains our highest priority. Students, faculty, and staff should remain aware of their surroundings and report any unusual or threatening activity to the Auburn Police Division (334-501-3100). The university is working closely with law enforcement to monitor the situation and any new developments." **This situation is developing.

White Student Union warning of ANTIFA group on campus

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Flyers are circulating on campus "Warning students that Atlanta Antifa is coming to Auburn on Tuesday April 18th.  The flyers, circulated by the White student union who recently had their own conflict with the university, warns that the ANTIFA group is a violent and aggressive organization. ANTIFA which stands for Anti-Facist is a group that " oppose white supremacist and fascist organizing in our region through education, confrontation, and building a grassroots culture of resistance." according to the Atlanta ANTIFA Facebook page. The group has decided that they will be in Auburn on Tuesday to counter the Richard Spencer event.

Student reaction to planned Richard Spencer event

AUBURN, ALA. (EETV) - Auburn students decorated the Haley Concourse with chalk messages of peace and love last night ahead of today's planned Richard Spencer speech.  There are several counter-events planned for this evening, including an "Auburn Unites" concert on the Student Center green space.

Auburn cancels Richard Spencer event over security concerns

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn University officials have announced that the event featuring Richard Spencer has been canceled. The university said in a statement, "In consultation with law enforcement, Auburn canceled the Richard Spencer event scheduled for Tuesday evening based on legitimate concerns and credible evidence that it will jeopardize the safety of students, faculty, staff and visitors." Spencer is known for being punched at an anti-Trump event and encouraging the "hail Hitler" salute at gatherings for the National Policy Institute.

Lieutenant Governor Kay Ivey is set to be sworn in as the 54th Governor tonight, following Governor Bentley's resignation.  Her swearing-in comes after years of scandal surrounding Governor Bentley.  Ivey will be only the second female governor in Alabama history.

BREAKING: Fire outside Jordan-Hare Stadium

AUBURN, ALA (EETV)- Auburn University experienced a fire around the time of 10:45 outside of Jordan Hare stadium today .  It is confirmed by Battalion Chief Spor, Auburn Fire Department, that a construction crew was welding, and due to the wind, grass and degree caught fire.  Auburn Fire Department was on the scene within the minute.  No damage is reported to the stadium.

Montgomery man arrested on Burglary and Theft charges

AUBURN, AL (EETV) - On Friday, April 7, 2017 the Auburn Police Division arrested Christopher Grenada Durry, age 31 from Montgomery on felony warrants charging him with Burglary 3rd degree and Theft of Property 3rd degree. The arrest stems from an investigation into a burglary that occurred on September 29, 2016 at a residence in the 400 block of N.
