Auburn, Alabama (EETV)- Auburn Softball is just around the corner as they open the season next week in Gulf Shores. Coming off a disappointing end to the 2018 season, the Tigers will have their sights on Oklahoma City this year. After the departure of Kaylee Carlson, the Tigers will look to Makayla Martin to be the leader in the circle. Martin has recently been named to the USA Softball Player of the year watchlist. Last season Martin had a 15-7 record and a 1.36 ERA in a 130 games that she pitched which is the best in school history. In the field, the Tigers defense has some familiar faces from last season. The infield is led by shortstop Taylon Snow and second baseman Kasey McCrackin. Snow, who was an SEC All-Freshman in 2018, had a .325 batting average with 23 RBI's. McCrackin had a .313 batting average 29 RBI's and 8 home runs. The outfield for the Tigers will be slightly changed with the absence of Victoria Draper. Auburn will return junior Alyssa Rivera and senior Morgan Podany. Kendall Veach will be the favorite to start at third and catcher. Veach had a .237 and 7 home runs last year. Head Coach Mickey Dean will be coaching his second year on the plains. Dean led Auburn to an impressive 29-3 record at home and a 41-17 record overall. The Tigers are ranked 21st by Softball America and are projected to finish ninth in the SEC. Auburn will open up with Tennessee State on February 8th and will return home against UAB February 14th.
Auburn, Alabama (EETV)- Auburn welcomed in their in-state rivals for the Iron Bowl of basketball. Auburn looked to win their second straight SEC win after defeating Missouri on Wednesday. After falling behind 7-1, Auburn took over going on 21-2 run to take a 13 point lead. Alabama would cut it to three, but Auburn made another explosive run to take a twenty point lead at halftime. The second half belonged to Auburn as Alabama racked up 21 turnovers which led to 30 of Auburn's points. Auburn would go on to win 84-63. Auburns leading scorers were Bryce Brown with 23 points and Jared Harper who dropped 20 on the night. Auburn was 25-33 from behind the arc and shot 80% from the free throw line. Alabama's leading scorers were John Petty with 18 points and Kira Lewis Jr who added 13. Alabama's record goes to 13-8 (4-4 in the SEC). Auburn improves to 15-6 (4-4 SEC) and they will be back in Auburn Arena Tuesday night against Florida.
Atlanta, Georgia (EETV)- There's only one day remaining till the biggest game in football. Super Bowl Sunday is tomorrow as the New England Patriots and the Los Angelos Rams face off in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Representing the NFC, the Los Angelos Rams will make their 4th franchise appearance in the Super Bowl. The last time they made it was in 2002 when they lost to Patriots on a game winning field goal. The Rams made their way through the postseason knocking out teams such as the Cowboys and the Saints in an overtime thriller. The offense is led by quarterback Jared Goff who is fifth in the league in total passing yards. Running backs C.J Anderson and Todd Gurley have combined over yards rushing on the year. The Rams are averaging 32 points a game which doesn't play into the hand of the Patriots defense, who are giving up only an average of 20 points a game. On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams have a stout defense led by Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh who will have the task of stopping the deadly Patriot offense led by Tom Brady. Brady and the Patriots come into Sunday's game looking for their sixth title in franchise history. A win Sunday would be their second Super Bowl in two of the last three years. The Patriots made their way with a dominating victory over the Chargers and an overtime win against the Chiefs. The Patriots offense ranks fifth in total offense averaging 393 yards a game. Brady has accounted for 691 total passing yard this season which ranks first in the league. Keys to this game will be if the Rams defensive line can cause Brady problems. If the Patriots control the line of scrimmage, it could be a long night for the Rams. Prediction: Patriots 31 Rams 24
Auburn Men’s Tennis (7-2) will host three non-conference tennis matches this weekend. All matches will be held at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
The Auburn Tigers defeated Missouri 92-58 to snap their three game losing steak. This win was the largest margin of victory in Auburn Arena history.
Atlanta, Georgia (EETV)- The arrival of the Super Bowl brings three former Tigers together in Sunday's big game. Rams cornerback Blake Countess, Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones, and linebacker Brandon King all spoke to the media on Monday night in Atlanta. Blake Countess who played at Auburn in 2015 spoke on his memories of Auburn saying, " Being back in Atlanta reminds me of my recruiting trip to Auburn, because I didn't know that you had to fly into Atlanta to get there. I remember driving down with my mom and Coach Muschamp. And then for guys like Jonathan Jones, who was a senior at the time, really welcomed me in and that was special." Brandon King, who graduated in 2014, said " Being in this game in this game is different, the players around me are different, everything we have to go through is different, but just enjoying being back closer to Auburn." Jonathan Jones, a four year starter from 2011-2015, talked about how much Auburn meant to him. Jones said, "Auburn was great just being there and experiencing it was great for me just to get to the NFL. I loved it, War Eagle." The Super Bowl will take place on Sunday as the Countess and the Rams look to win their first Super Bowl since the Rams moved to Los Angelos. AUBURN, Ala- Auburn Gymnastics defeated Georgia with a final score of 196.775. With a sold-out Auburn Arena, The Tigers fed off the adrenaline of the crowd. Top performances came from junior Gracie Day who had a top score in bars (9.875) and vault (9.900), and Derrian Gobourne who also had a successful night. Gobourne won in all around ( 39.375) and floor exercise (9.950). To top it all off the freshman earned a perfect 10 on her floor routine by one of the judges. For the Bulldogs top scorers were Sabrina Vega (balance beam, 9.925) and Sydney Snead (second in all around, 39.350.) The Bulldogs finished the meet falling behind Auburn with an overall score of 196.400. Auburn's Drew Watson came in second behind Gobourne in all around score of 39.175. The Auburn Tigers will compete against the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington on Friday, February 1st at 6 p.m. CDT.
The Texas A&M Aggies were too much for the Auburn Tigers tonight as the Aggies win a close fought battle 69-67. Auburn had a 30-22 lead at the half, but behind Chennedy Carter's 28 points, Texas A&M stormed back to take an 11-point lead in the fourth-quarter. Auburn would not go down without a fight though, scraping their way back and tying it up at 67 with a minute to go. Carter hit a running lay-up in the final minute to the Aggies up for good. Rebounding was a key factor in this game and ultimately contributed to Texas A&M winning the game, out rebounding Auburn 39-30. More offensive rebounds means more second chances and the Aggies made the most of it, putting up 13 second chance points compared to Auburn's nine. Texas A&M's Chennedy Carter led all scorers with 28 and Janiah McKay was the leading scorer for the Tigers with 17 points. Auburn plays its second straight ranked opponent Sunday when the Tigers travel to Columbia, Missouri, to face-off against No. 25 Missouri. Tip-ff is at 2 p.m. CT at Mizzou Arena.
Auburn, Alabama (EETV)- Carnell 'Cadillac' Williams was officially named Auburn Football's running back coach yesterday. Williams has an impressive record as a former NFL player, and his Auburn career helped the Auburn Tigers have an undefeated season in 2004, as well as six straight Iron Bowl wins against Alabama. Williams record breaking Auburn career was from 2001-2004. He had a total of 3,831 yards rushing, 741 attempts and 45 touchdowns. Head Coach Gus Malzahn released a statement to fans Wednesday about Williams coaching for the upcoming season: “Carnell Williams is one of Auburn’s all-time greats and we’re excited to welcome him home,” Malzahn said. “Cadillac is a great fit for our program. He understands and cares deeply for this university and the Auburn football program, while bringing a great knowledge of the game. He knows first-hand what it takes to be a successful running back at the highest level and has a tremendous work ethic. We’re glad to have him at Auburn and know he will be a great coach and mentor to our running backs.” The former NFL player was the overall fifth pick in the 2005 draft by the Tampa Buccaneers. Williams was named Rookie of the Year, and he spent six seasons at Tampa. In 2011 he finished his final season in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams. Williams' coaching experience includes: Henderson State (2015), University of West Georgia (2016), IMG Academy (2016-2017) and more recently for Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football (AAF). “I’m ecstatic, super excited and humbled to have the opportunity to return home to Auburn and coach at a place that helped me become the man I am today,” Williams said. “I’m very grateful and appreciative of Coach Malzahn, the staff and the Auburn administration for this opportunity. Words can’t explain the emotions I had when I received the offer from Coach Malzahn. Cadillac hit the road early this morning to begin recruiting for the Auburn Tigers. He shared via Twitter that, "It's official, first of many trips recruiting for the Auburn Tigers. Can't wait to tell guys about the Auburn way! #War Eagle."
Auburn, Alabama (EETV)- Auburn women's tennis returned to the Yarborough Tennis Center for their first four matches of the season. After winning their first three matches, Auburn faced off against Mercer in the final match of the weekend. Auburn started off fast in doubles as teams of Sophia Graver/Taylor Russo and You Chen/Lindsey Song clinched the doubles point. In singles, Caroline Turner gave Auburn a 2-0 as her opponent retired with Turner leading 6-1 3-0. Taylor Russo stretched the lead to 3-0 with a 6-1 6-1 victory. The Tigers would go on to win as Yu Chen halted play with a 6-3 6-2 win to keep Auburn perfect throughout the weekend. Auburn's record is now 4-0 and they will travel to Atlanta this weekend in Atlanta for the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
Auburn, Ala (EETV)- Coach Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers basketball team welcomed in a tough SEC opponent to Auburn Arena Saturday night when the No.12 Kentucky Wildcats came looking for their fourth win in conference play and fourteenth overall while No. 14 Auburn was looking to carry momentum from their last game over after defeating the Georgia Bulldogs 93-78. Students waited in the rain for hours to get a look at this matchup which lived up to the expectations. The Tigers came out firing and managed to keep the game close until the end of the first half when Kentucky closed on an 8-0 run thanks to two scores from Keldon Johnson and a three pointer by Tyler Herro to put themselves up by eight at the break. Bryce Brown had a quiet first half only scoring three points going 1-2 from the field. But in the second half a different player seemed to emerge. Brown had twenty five points in the second half while his backcourt partner Jared Harper finished with 17 points for the game. The Tigers were shaky early in the second half as Kentucky rode the hot hands of Johnson and Herro but Brown would not let them be comfortable at any time. At one point scoring or assisting on thirteen straight points for Auburn. Down two with just over thirty seconds left, Harper pulled up for three and found the bottom of the basket to put Auburn up by one. The next play Harper fouled Herro and sent him to the line with a chance to tie and take the lead which he was able to do. Primed in position to hit another big shot, Harper had the ball right where he wanted it with the game on the line, in his hands. Harper drove and put up a layup that would have given Auburn the lead but it just rolled out. When asked about the shot Harper said, “I knew when I was able to get by him that I had the angle, I feel like when I shot it I put it in the right place on the backboard. It just didn’t go in.” After a made free throw and a missed last second heave from Samir Doughty at half court. The final buzzer sounded and the Tigers would fall by a final 82-80. Brown would finish with 28 points going 8-9 from the field, 6-7 from three point range and 6-6 from the free throw line. Pearl said of Brown "“Bryce Brown was phenomenal in every timeout, he was the one in the timeouts who was keeping the guys positive, focused.” The loss drops the Tigers t0 13-4 overall and 2-2 in SEC play. The next game will be at South Carolina on Tuesday with tip-off slated for 5:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.

Bryce Brown outscored the Aggies 18-10 in the last six minutes including 3 straight three point shots to end the half. Auburn wouldn't look back as they would go on to win 85-66. Auburn's bench outscored the Aggies bench 27-5 with 13 points coming from Anfernee McLemore. Texas A&M's leading scorers were T. J. Starks and Savion Flagg who both scored 22 points. The rest of the team did not reach double digits. Auburn's SEC road record improves to 4-3 under Bruce Pearl. Bryce Brown said, "That win will work wonders for us, it's our first true road win and I feel like it helps us at home because we can get the job done away from our place." Auburn's record improves to 13-3 (2-1 in SEC) and they will return to Auburn Arena Saturday for a top 25 showdown with the 12th ranked Kentucky Wildcats.
The Auburn Tigers defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 93 to 78. This victory follows last week’s devastating loss on the road against the Ole Miss Rebels. The Rebels defeated the Tigers 82 to 67, which resulted in the Auburn Tiger’s first conference loss. The Georgia Bulldogs also entered into tonight’s game with a 0 and 1 conference standing with their prior loss against the Tennessee Volunteers. Tonight’s win was not only a team win but was also a personal victory for certain individuals such as Anfernee McLemore, Jared Harper, Bryce Brown, and even Coach Pearl. Jared Harper dropped 22 points on the score board tonight, while Brown and McLemore both had 15 points for the Tigers. Auburn was much better in the paint as they scored 40 points down low. Georgia's leading scorer was Turtle Jackson, who had a career high 16 points. Nicolas Claxton added 15 points and 3 blocks for the Bulldogs. Auburn's record improves to 13-2 (1-1 in the SEC) and they will travel to College Station on Wednesday to face off against the Texas A&M Aggies.
Nashville TN (EETV)- The final game of the 2018 season pitted the Auburn Tigers against the Purdue Boilermakers in the Music City Bowl. Auburn's defense would be tested as the Boilermakers brought in the 24th best offense in the country led by quarterback David Blough. In the first quarter, Auburn started fast on the first drive of the game as Jarret Stidham found Jatarvious Whitlow for a 66 yard touchdown pass on the third play from scrimmage. After a three and out from Purdue, Auburn took a 14-0 lead on an 87 yard drive capped off by a 2 yard run from Whitlow. On Purdue's next drive, Auburn's Javarius Davis intercepted an errant throw from Blough and returned it to the Purdue 18 yard line. Jatarvius Whitlow would score his third touchdown of the game as he took it in from one yard out to give Auburn a 21-0 lead. The Boilermakers got things going offensively as Rondale Moore capped off a 78 yard drive with a 7 yard rushing touchdown to cut Auburn's lead to 14. Auburn would regain the 21 point lead as Jarret Stidham found Darius Slayton for a 74 yard score. The score was Auburn's fourth straight touchdown on offense and the longest of the 2018 season. In the second quarter, the defense held Purdue on fourth down. Auburn's offense needed one play to score their fifth straight touchdown as Stidham found Darius Slayton for his second touchdown reception of the game. The defense got in on the scoring as Big Cat Bryant intercepted a deflected pass and returned it for 20 yards to give Auburn an astounding 42-7 lead. Auburn's offensive attack did not stop as they tacked on two more touchdown's to give them a 56-7 lead at halftime. The Tigers set a school record for most points in the first half since they scored 49 against Chattanooga in 1995. Auburn opened the second half with their ninth touchdown of the game as Ryan Davis took a jet sweep for five yards to give Auburn a 63-7 lead.
Auburn, Alabama (EETV)- After losing on the road at NC State, the Auburn Tigers looked to rebound against the Murray State Racers. In the first half Auburn started out on an 8-0 run to start the game as Austin Wiley dropped 10 points. Bryce Brown seemed to be back in form as he scored 8 points including his first three point basket in two games. Murray State hung around, taking a five point lead with nine minutes to go. Auburn would take the lead into half 38-35 with help from Chuma Okeke as he scored the last five points of the half. Murray State started the first half fast, knocking down three straight three-point shots to take a six point lead. The lead wouldn't last for long as Auburn took a 14 point lead with 8 minutes remaining. Murray State did not go away as they cut the lead to just three in the last 40 seconds. Auburn was able to hold on for the win as Jared Harper knocked down two clutch free throws. The play of Murray State's guard Ja Morant should not go unnoticed as he dropped 25 points in the game. Shaq Buchanan also scored 21 points for the Racers, going 8-14 from three. Auburn's Samir Doughty had a career high 20 points to lead the Tigers and Austin Wiley and Chuma Okeke both added 17 points. Auburn's record improves to 10-2 and they will return to Auburn Arena next Saturday against the North Florida Ospreys.
Birmingham, Alabama (EETV)- Auburn and UAB faced off in the Mike Slive Invitational in Legacy Arena. In the first quarter, Auburn started very slow shooting 34 percent from the field. UAB came out strong knocking down 40 percent of their shots to take a seven point lead. Auburn made a push at the end of the half as they outscored the Blazers 8-0 to take a 28-27 lead at halftime. The second quarter was a back-and-forth affair as neither team could hold a lead. Auburn held a six point lead with 1:15 left but the Blazers hit two clutch three's two send the game to overtime. In overtime Jared Harper took over as he hit some crucial free throws to help the Tigers hold on 75-71. Harper went to the free throw line a total of 16 times and shot 80 percent. Harper led the way with 31 points while Chuma Okeke dropped 11 points. Auburn was unusually cold from three, only shooting 18 percent. UAB was led by Jalen Perry, who scored 18 points and Lewis Sullivan with 11. Auburn's record goes to 9-1 and they will go on the road next Wednesday night at North Carolina State.
The Auburn Tigers faced off against the Dayton Flyers Saturday night in Auburn Arena. The Tigers looked to defeat Dayton for the second year in row. The Tigers showed out big in the first half with their high shooting percentage. Auburn shot 61 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the free-throw line, while Dayton shot 48 percent from the floor and only 50 percent from the free-throw line. Guards Jared Harper and Bryce Brown came out hot from the three-point line, Harper shooting 2-3 and Brown 4-5. Harper ended the half with 14 points and Brown with an impressive 22 points. Not only were the Tigers dominant on the offensive end in the first half, but their defense made a statement with a total of five blocks, three of which came from Austin Wiley. Auburn would enter halftime with a comfortable 51-32 lead. Bryce Brown and Jared Harper continued to be the leading scorers for Auburn as they would finish with a combined 54 points. Brown scored a career high 34 points and Harper finished with 20 points. The Tigers would remain on top as they win the hard-fought game, 82-72. Auburn improves their record to 8-1 and Dayton falls to 5-4. The Tigers will be in Birmingham Saturday the 15th in Legacy Arena as they take on UAB.
