Bruce Pearl still "no comment" on federal investigation.

Nashville, Tenn. (EETV) - Amidst a federal investigation involving one of his staff, Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl is heading into the 2017-2018 season with many unknowns. "I would imagine as we continue over the next few weeks we're gonna get, we're gonna have more information," Pearl said regarding any timeline to the investigation.  The investigation dominated the discussion with Pearl at the SEC Tipoff '18, to which Pearl said, "If it involves anything with the FBI or the investigation I'm not going to have any comment." The investigation puts multiple his players in question, leaving more questions than answers regarding their eligibility and the status of the program. "As of yesterday's practice, every player that we have on the roster was in practice," said Pearl. Pearl added that freshman Austin Wiley was unable to practice due to an injury suffered earlier this year, but is on track to begin practicing soon. "We expect him to be back in about 10 days to 2 weeks," said Pearl. Pearl said that the investigation has not been a factor with the team as they prepare for their first exhibition game on Nov.

SEC Men's Basketball Media Day Morning Session: The Federal Investigation and what it means for the SEC

Nashville, Tenn. (EETV) - On Sept. 26 college basketball was rocked by the arrests of several college basketball assistant coaches involved in a bribery scheme, including Auburn's Chuck Person.  "........" The bribery scheme can be called a "pay to play" situation.  Paying college athletes to play at certain universities is not a new idea and has been a hot-button issue in college athletics. Florida coach Mike White said he was "not really" surprised to hear of an investigation into the bribery scheme  "........White quote" As the investigation continues, speculation has been swirling around the college basketball sphere of other schools involved and specific players who were offered money.  "............Vandy quote" With SEC basketball tipping off in November, the focus on the season has been overshadowed by what is to come from the investigation. "....... Mizzou quote" The afternoon session will be highlighted by Kentucky's John Calipari in the early session and Auburn's Bruce Pearl in the late session.  Pearl is scheduled to address the media at 4:40 and will be followed by his players Bryce Brown and Horace Spencer at 5:15.

Football fails to put together two half's to lose to LSU

Baton Rouge, La. (EETV) - No. 10 Auburn fails to put together two half's in Death Valley, losing to the LSU 27-23.  Auburn started the game fasting, scoring a Daniel Carlson field goal on their first drive of the game. The Auburn Tigers kept their offense explosive in the first quarter with quarterback Jarrett Stidham hitting Will Hastings for a 49-yard touchdown.  Kerryon Johnson was able to cap the first quarter with a 4-yard touchdown, putting Auburn up 17-0 at the end of the first quarter.  The Johnson touchdown would be the last Auburn touchdown of the game, leaving Carlson to score two more field goals in the first half.

Sara P's Fast 5: 5 Key to Auburn winning in Death Valley

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - No. 10 Auburn hits the road for the first of a three-game road trip. This game may be the toughest for Auburn, going to LSU. Tiger Stadium, aka Death Valley, is known for being loud and hostile.  Auburn will have to put their nose to the grindstone in order to grind out a win against their SEC West rival.  Here are my 5 keys to an Auburn victory over LSU: 1) Run the ball This may seem obvious every week, but the LSU defense is lacking in their run defense.  Auburn has one of the most potent run games in the country, led by Kerryon Johnson. Johnson is coming off a career-best game, rushing for 204 yards and 3 TDs against Ole Miss.

Sara P's Fast 5: 5 Takeaways from Auburn's win over Ole Miss

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - The now No. 10 Tigers once again showed their dominance in the SEC, this time defeating Ole Miss. Auburn's 49-23 over the Rebels showed the continued improvement of the Tigers as a whole. Here are my 5 takeaways following the defeat of Ole Miss: 1) Kerryon Johnson is a beast Kerryon Johnson was by far and away the best player on the field for both teams Saturday. Johnson has continued to improve this season, especially considering he was injured during the week 1 game against Georgia Southern. "I don’t know of a lot of players that week one will be running for a touchdown, and they pull a hamstring bad enough to where they have to go down and then be able to come back two weeks later and be able to play at the high level he is right now," said Gus Malzahn.
